Since re-embracing my fandom I have had a couple of ideas for GL suits, but am uncertain of where to go with them. The first is a medieval variation. I know it has been done to death and with varying results that range from amazing to "Holy rented costumes, Batman!" There are two ideas that I have had. One version is just for my own personal amusement The other, to accompany a fan fiction that I am working on. They are both going to be modifications of my reenactment armours. I intend to add green LEDs under the plates, along the eye slits and ventilation holes in the helm, and perhaps under the exposed areas of my maille. The former will likely have a surcote designed to honor The John Steward costume with a triangular yoke of green terminating into the GL symbol on a black body. The latter will have a breast plate and the symbol will be on the besagews suspended from the pauldrons. The other idea is a Neo-Victorian/Stempunk GL corps ceremonial Highland dress uniform. I was thinking that a green wool double breated shell jacket with an approriate kilt and plaid (if not a great kit) would be a nice base. Then a pair of green and black diced kilt hose and white garter ties/flashes and white dress gloves would help round it out. I would then fasten the ruffled cuffs of the shirt with GL symbol cufflinks and pin the jabot with a matching tie-tack. A GL belt plate would finish it off. I'm still uncertain of what tartan to use. I would love to use the GL tartan that I designed, but unless I can get a group of people to pitch in and buy some too, I won't qualify for bulk pricing and it woud be insanly expensive. https://www.scotweb.co.uk/tartandesign/details/76683 This is a link to the tartan I designed.
